This post is for an early impression of the VH Audio Pulsar digital interconnect I recently installed - nice!

This cable has only run a few hours, but there is a definite improvement in the mids/highs that had already showed some improvement from the prior installation of VH Audio power cords (separate review). The Pulsar is very revealing without being forward, bright or shrill, in my opinion.

If there was something I wished my Paradigm 100 speakers had, it would be more forward in the mid ranges at lower listening levels. They have always sounded a bit reserved at low levels. Several older CDs of BB King and Robert Cray, that were recorded / mixed with lesser equipment I guess, have been particularly challenging for them to get right. Playing these CDs since I installed this cable, I’ve heard additional detail - as if several of the previously obscure instruments took a step or two forward. There was a marked improvement in the timbre of several of the instuments as well. For example, a bass guitar that previously was kind of ‘just there’ took on real character. It was a very noticeable change in timbre from rather flat/dull to full and deep. I always thought the system sounded good, so it is not unusual for me to stop and listen to songs I like while working around the house. However, today I found myself stopping to listen several times to songs I did not particularly like – that was different. The music really drew me in with its mid-range clarity/delicacy.

When I cranked it up a bit, even up to reference levels, there wasn’t a hint of grunge/sibilance/overly bright sound that made me want to turn it down.

Pretty good for out of the box I'd say. I’m told this cable will only improve with run time, so I think it’s safe to say it’s a keeper. Keep up the great work, Chris!
