for the Pulsar Interconnect

I bought the first of two sets of Pulsars in August of 04. They were a standard configuration, 1 m w/ Eichmann Copper Bullets. The second set I received in November of 04, 1m CRYO'd w/ Eichmann Copper Bullets. My third set is already on the way, 3.5m Cryo'd w/ Eichmann Copper Bullets. At this accelerating rate, I should own every set of Pulsars in existence a year from now. Really, the review is over. Money is where mouth is and all. But just a few more words.........

The first set just blew my doors off. Going from CDP to Preamp, they exposed details, voices, decays, attacks I hadn't heard before. This is good, but there was more. Instruments sounded recognizable in their harmonic registers. Cymbols, vibes, marimbas, pianos, basses, all there in a sort of unexpected truth. Balance and fullness are apt descriptors. So is holy sh*#! Or more appropriately, wow.

All this from a mini-coaxial cable with a solid copper core, solid FEP teflon, double shield of foil and silver plated copper braid surrounded by more teflon.

I don't own exotic equipment, nor do I have the budget for the ultimate.OTOH, I have owned high fidelity (my age is showing) gear. I have built Heathkits, Dynakits, Eico, even a Scott tuner way back when. Point is I come to the party with a full record set, and a bi of listening along the way. And a pile of money spent on various IC's, Cardas. DH Labs, Nordost. These IC's are the cost benefit winners of all time. (Except if you DIY Chris' stuff for your self).

The second set was the same in all respects, except for the CRYO'd wire. Okay, another door opened. What was great about the standard Pulsars got greater. Quiet decays became more seducing. Bass details like the finger touching the string more clear. yeah, CRYO is worth the extra bucks at least in this incarnation. I heard the difference and it was good. First set went to the tuner.

My reference recordings are Modern Cool by Patricia Barber and her wonderful engineer/mixer Jim Anderson. Hourglass by James Taylor. Dvorak's 9th Symphony by the St. Louis Sym. under Leonard Slatkin (great recording, btw) and Bela Fleck's Perpetual Motion.

A third set coming, what can I say. I have this 11 foot run from my pre to my amp that I had been using balanced cable on, Belden 1800F. But a pesky ground loop was conquered by using unbalanced connection and using the ground lift on the amp. Go figure. I never had a ground lift work before. Anyway, not just any old IC would do anymore, darn it. So many bucks later, Chris is sending me my Christmas present. It will not sit under the tree! Arrrghhh, this hobby!!!!

Product Weakness: They are like sugar.....okay, okay, like heroin. And it's not the product's weakness. It's mine. Another story.
Product Strengths: Clear sound, excellent extension and imaging, really fine construction and design. Eichmann RCA's.
