for the Flavors 1, 2, and 3
I hooked up my newly completed Flavor #2 power cord last night to my Sonus Faber integrated amp driving
Fostex horns. Initially I was not impressed but left the system playing in the background for several hours and then sat down to listen carefully after dinner. Wow! Wow! Wow! Like the difference between between a decent $11 a bottle wine and a killer $35 dollar bottle (not that I drink those high zoot bottles frequently mind you!)The beneficial effects were not what I expected:
More balance. The sometimes slightly forward highs were now in balance and the upper bass, mids and highs lost the smidgen of raggedness I had sometimes wondered about.
More general ease to the presentation.
Noticeably more and clearer depth to the sound stage.
More energetic sound in general.
Oddly, the bass did not seem more prodigious but simply tighter with more tonal clarity .
There is just plain more of everything including refinement.
The changes seemed subtle and huge at the same time?
I frankly did not notice an obviously quieter background but it must be there to reveal so much. The bottom line is that I was surprised to catch myself repeatedly getting lost in music, making it difficult to get analytical about what I was hearing. This is a good thing.
100 hours should make them even better.
Thanks Chris V for the great design, and assistance.
Product Weakness: Stiff and slightly awkward if used in short lengths Product Strengths: Does it all as far as I can tell.
