for the PC AG-12 silver power cord

Here I go again. Yet another power cord! I've posted before my comparison of Fatman 2000, audience powerChord, TG HSR-i squared gen 2, Omega Mikro, Tekline PC12W, and my DIY Ubyte-2 solo copper foil cord before (http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/general/messages/135717.html)and this is an addition.

This brand-spinking new cord is so new I don't think too many are out there yet. Tekline is famous for their affordable yet great PC12W, which I used to own. Now they've added the AG line, which is all-silver, but the details of constructions are unknown to me, and their website still doesn't have info on these cords. Suffice it to say, they are very nicely built, with some sort of semi-rigid outer tubing that retains shape after being bent. The male plug is very nice and has silver(plated?) prongs.

THE UPSIDE

This cord has the best high frequency extension of any cords I've heard, even bettering the Omega Mikro or my venerable Ubyte-2 Solo cord. Air up there goes on and on. In fact, this cord reminds me a lot of sound I got from my DIY IC using very fine gauage silver conductors. Fast, airy, articulate, yet smooth, with extremely taut bass. Sounding very detailed and extended without that "peaky" sound. In fact, it's very sweet sounding and even relaxing.

THE DOWNSIDE

I'm beginning to think there is no PERFECT power cord. This Tekline AG 12's sonic trait is light, airy, fast, articulate, and detailed, but it does NOT have that midrange/lower mid/upper bass richness, warmth that many copper cords have. I can't say for sure which is RIGHT, but for example the TG HSR-i squared gen 2 has much more lower midrange/upper bass body. Then again, the Tekline sounds much more supple, clean, clear. It's actually astonishing how opposite it sounds to the same company's PC12W, which in comparison sounds truncated in upper treble, peaky in mid/low treble, over-bloated in midrange/bass, and just plain veiled and muddy!

As with most cords, the AG 12 will work beautifully or not depending on component and system. I currently have it powering my Bryston crossover, replacing the excellent Audience PowerChord, which in comparison sounds dull and veiled also. So now, the cords sitting out of my system include the Electraglide Fatman, TG HSR-i squared, Audience powerChord. Omega Mikro, Tekline AG 12, and a couple of the Ubyte-2 cords power my whole system now, and the sound is really awesome. Yet I keep searching for that illusive "perfect" cord. Perhaps I'll try the Acoustic Zen Krakatoa next?
