for the Interconnect

In the mid 90's I reluctantly started my cable upgrade journey. It's not that I didn't believe better cables would improve the sound and image but just how much? Also back then I had other system priorities like better equipment. In the last five years I have focused more heavily on accessories like power-interconnect-speaker cables and improving my AC line through regeneration and filtering. Every upgrade made a noticable difference and at the beginning of 2005 my system was really sounding great. I of course still wanted more. I read a little about Speltz cables and had a friend I trust recommend them to me. I had some very good cables before the upgrade in quality, downgrade by a lot in price, to Speltz anticables. Those cables were: Kimber KCTG and Hero,A-Quest Jaguar, YBA Diamond as interconnects and Kimber 8TC and Mapleshade Double Helix and Nordost BlueHeaven speaker cables. So that's what I had at various times in the last two years. I bought 5 sets of interconnects and a bi-wire set of speaker cables from Speltz this spring. I replaced the cables one at a time listening to the difference afterward. First was the Trivista CDP to Placette passive line stage cable. Wow- way better sounding than the Kimber KCTG-more open, bigger image smother top end all easily noticable. Next I replaced the two sets of interconnects from my Placette to my two CJ amplifiers-those were the Audioquests. It just kept getting better. The image got bigger and more defined. Small details in my reference recordings were much more easily heard. I can't believe these cables are so much better than those it replaced! I mean three sets of cables for $225 beating badly three sets of cables that cost over $1000! I immeadiatly started thinking I can sell the old cables on Audiogon and more than pay for my almost $500 total system cable upgrade from Speltz. And I did!! I easily sold those cables on A-Gon within a week. Next was the two sets for my phono setup. One set from my Rabco Arm RCA's to phono preamp and one set from my phono preamp to my line stage. Same results here large improvement. Here's the funny thing. Speltz interconnect cables like the speaker cables are enamel coated bare copper without teflon dielectric. How can unshielded cables work in my system muchless work on the phono stage without getting noise? Well guess what-they had less noise than all those other cables. My noise floor was decreased dramatically by using an unshielded cable! I'm shaking my head in disbelief. A high output Grado Master into a 54db gain phono stage now quieter than ever.....with bare unshielded wire! Of course the phono stage also sounded better. Since I no longer used the Kimber KCTG(my favorite of my old cables) on the CDP I tried it on the phono stage and the Speltz outperformed it their too. The last upgrade was the speaker cable and here I had the least improvement yet still a quite noticable one. Here the largest improvement was in the image and front to back depth of the soundstage. There was a little change in HF clarity and the bass was very similar. Remember this upgrade in performence was with a cable that was several hundred dollars less. Enter A-Gon again to sell the old and put some money in the bank! In the end an upgrade that made me money!! I spent about $500 and sold my old cables for about $1200 a net of +$700 and a dramatic improvement in sound! You owe it to yourself to try these cables.

Note the interconnects are so new they are not yet listed on the website

Product Weakness: Slightly less managable than many cables being of a single solid wire. Lackluster looking terminations- but all in all outdid my much more expensive, fancy cables with WBT's or Eichmans.
Product Strengths: Price, performence, the best value I have ever received from an audio product.
Customer servce is also great from this company.
