for the Boo Cable Jr

I recently added an YBA CD Special Delta to my system and needed an Interconnect for it. Jeff owner of Poth Audio was working on an entry level interconnect about the same time and I was interested to try it. So Jeff kindly sent me Boo Cable Jr to audition and compare to my Kimber Hero I am using on my MSB Link III and Sony DVPNS-755v. I really like the Hero since adding it to my system last fall and was thinking about a second one for my YBA since it added a lot to my system and thought how could anyone’s interconnect be better (read the reviews on the Hero). I hooked up the Boo the next day after receiving it and let it burn in for almost 4 days before critical listening. Then the time came and I brought out the CD’s I use for auditioning equipment and cabling. I used 3 different CD’s and 3 different interconnects (Kimber Kable’s Hero and Analysis Plus Oval One) for this comparison/review. As I started listening I noticed that the Boo’s imaged quite well and threw out a nice soundstage. The voice of Patty Griffin and the saxophone of John Coltrane’s were just more immediately centered drawing you into them. They were very uncolored, detailed, clean and tight right away. Further listening revealed they had painted a nice picture (an exciting dynamic one with good texture), no fuzziness or graininess around the edges. Also the sound stage was very good; I heard guitars, drum and vocals where they should be. The bass was very fast and more extended then I first thought. Then I connected the Hero and the Oval One and noticed they are warmer with a tad more bass (more of a heavy bass not necessarily deeper). They weren’t as clean and clear but they imaged almost as good as the Boo’s (the Saxophone and vocals weren’t quite as pin point) while also having less of a sound stage (not quite as wide or as much front to back depth). I would say that the Boo beat out the other two cables because it was clearer to me what I was hearing; it drew me into the music more. They are all great cables and I can’t say that the Boo beat the Hero or the Oval One hands down in my system at least because the difference’s wasn’t that extreme. The difference to me was minuscule with the Boo providing the clearer picture of the 3 cables, this is important to me because I like to be drawn into the music. It provided me with a little more insight to what I was hearing and feeling. I feel for $150 for 1 meter you can’t find better; I’ve tried. I have spent countless hours with cables and I am glad I had the pleasure of the Boo’s.

Product Weakness: I would have to say none at this price point
Product Strengths: Its clean, images well with a good sound stage with plenty of detail and with fast, tight bass. The Boo paint’s a picture that you can enjoy for hours.
