for the The Lyric HG

I'd been using the original Lyric for about two years with different plugs and cdn tire solder. Part of the reason I needed a new interconnect was because these plugs didn't quite fit my Bryston B60 (new owner) very snug, and introduced a low hum if not secure. Other than that, I didn't want to bother with all the nonsense out there because I was already VERY happy with the Lyric. The Lyric HG offers an Enhanced Dielectric (more air).

Schoenberg: String Quartet #3 (New Vienna String Quartet)

What I immediately noticed was how much clearer the instruments were, even in harmonies. Plucks had more 'ping' to them and low sonorous instruments, especially the cello, could be heard better in delicate passages. The string quartet as a force had more 'slam' to it as well. I can summarize this as being better balanced on the low frequency side. The solder likely lets through more of what was missing.

Stravinsky: The Flood; Wuorinen: A Reliquary for Igor Stravinsky

THE FLOOD...the greater clarity of low sonorous instruments such as the tuba and some percussion was obvious. The attack of percussion instruments was easy to hear as well as stringed plucks. Again, more 'missing' low frequency was apparent and brass instruments more crisp. It really does sound like the music has more time to decay.

On a side, I tried some Transparent cable (Music Link I think) worth $300 CDN (about $240 US) against even my OLD Lyric, and I swear, the Transparent IC was like adding a low-pass filter to my system: no highs (obvious on jazz as it eliminates the air), bloated lows, boomy....really, don't pay attention to marketing!
