After reading Chris VenHaus's Website on DIY CAT5 Speaker Cable, I decided to become one of those brave soul and forked out $35 for the project ($25 for 200' of Belden 1701A CAT5 and $10 couple pack of RS Gold spades). After a gruesome weekend of intensive labor, backache, blistered fingers, I finally finished braiding a pair of 9' biwire (18 pairs for the low and 9 pairs for the high) to replace my Kimber 4TC speaker wire. All I can say is "WOW!! Awsome !! Unbelievable sound".

Midway into the project after completing one of the two cables, I was about to give up the project because my back is aching, my fingers are blistering from those long long hours of braiding. I decided to evaluate the first cable to decide whether it's worth the effort. To my amazing, using Kimber 4TC on one speaker the new CAT5 cable on the other speaker, I can tell a big difference in soundstage. So I decided to continue on and I'm glad that I'd finished the project. Now, I can seat back and enjoy one of the best product for a very cheap price. It worth every effort. Not a single regret. Thank you Chris VenHaus for sharing the recipe with all of us.

Finally, I have some advice for anyone who is braved enough to try out this project.

1. Use a good pair of leather gloves too minimize blistering fingers.
2. Recruit any volunteers if you can.
3. When braiding the twisted pairs, try to be consistent with your braiding. Don't concern too much about making them tight.

4. *IMPORTANT* - Don't give up!! You'll be rewarded.

Enjoy the music and one again THANK YOU Chris for all your help.

Dino
