for the Silver Foil power cord

Yes, Chris VH Belden AC cord sounds nice, so does CAT-5 DIY cord, etc. My previous Ubyte-2 copper foil AC cords reigned supreme over any other cords around here, but now there is new king of the hill.

The silver foil version of Ubyte-2 simply is the best I have heard, ever, sounding significantly better than even my copper foil Ubyte-2. This is not a project for the novice DIY'er, and the price and effort is nothing to laugh at, but it is VERY worth it. Refer to my previous review of "DIY Ubyte-2 copper foil AC cord" in AA Reviews section to see how that version compares to other commercial types.

There's no need to compare the silver Ubyte-2 cord to any commercial cords, as there simply is no comparison. Compared to my previous reference, the copper foil ubyte-2 cord, the silver version simply has tons more resolution and detail. Treble more sparkling, midrange more luscious and wet, low mids/upper bass more linear, more solidity in bass. I have not heard better, ever.

I used silver foil from the AA group buy, trimming it to 1 inch width in order to fit wrapped around Belden 89292 foamed teflon core with 14 AWG copper core.

One caveat. I wouldn't use the silver version with digital gear. Even my very analogue-sounding Cary CD-301 armed with Raytheon 5814 tubes accentuated a bit more digitis with this ultra-revealing cord. I prefer my Omega Mikro AC cord's more relaxed/less revealing nature on CDP.

Product Weakness: May be too revealing for 16/44 digital
Product Strengths: see text
