Having owned an ET II air bearing arm, then a Graham 1.0 I continued my hunt for the sonic truth in the positive direction by purchasing a Basis Vector Model One. When I heard the Model one had been upgraded with new wiring I was curious why. The Model 3 arm arrived with the new Basis PSST wires attached. The arm was set up with the Benz Micro LP cartridge I had been using on the Model one arm. We fired her up and the difference was immediately evident. The sonic field improved so much more than expected I started thinking. The MIT interconnects I was using were very good but old technology, I also have the Cardas Gold Ref. interconnects and did not think they gave any advantage over the MIT's and cost so much more. Hence I was in the market to upgrade my interconnects. I've also tried the Valhalla which went in the semi-right direction but are too dear by a major troy ounce and have too much bias to the high frequencies.
Always ready to try something something new I pleaded with Basis to make me some prototype interconnects out of their new arm wire. After several calls they finally agreed to let me try a pair of 48 and 84 inch prototype interconnects.

I put the short pair between the photo and line stage. The longer pair went from the line stage to the mono-block amps. I am still using the MIT speaker cable-they wouldn't let me use their wires there as there is to much current interactions or some such thing-darn....Anyway....

The sound:
I fired up the system and immediately heard the sound stage widen and deepen to the biggest yet. The sound was deeper in the bass, and more extended at the top without brightening the edges. The sound field had harmonic weight which helps increase the emotion impact of the music. Brass instruments had no edgey buzz. Violin strings zing with dynamic truth and harmonic realism. The details of each recording were passed without interception or coloration.
Rain splattered on the ground, and clapping of hands smacked without ssssZZZ. Thunder claps rolled through the hills and ecohed into wispers like in nature (from the last track of Fresh Aire V). Triangles and symbols rang and decayed with true shimmering.

In other words the wires will stay in the system until the final versions can be produced. Or officer return them now ring the door bell. My recommendation is try them this winter you may never want to leave the house again.

Product Weakness: Still a prototype, final version due out this winter.
Product Strengths: Neutral, balanced, detailed, go deep in the base and are extended in the top end. No filtering here. What is sent in comes out the other end unmolested.
