for the RCD 1070

I've owned my RCD1070 for about two years now but didn't truly realize it's strengths until recently. It's served me as a backup player that I kept on the side lines to use to test out other audio equipment. Honestly I've never been that impressed with the Rotel until now. I've always felt the Rotel had somewhat of a dry and stale presentation. Rather bland sounding. It wasn't until I ran across a pair of interconnects I bought spur of the moment to try with my new amp that I realized what a great player the Rotel really is. I have quite a few interconnects I’ve bought over the years to pair with the various systems I have around the house but none of them ever did anything for the sound of the Rotel. I’ve accepted the fact that the RCD1070 was simply just another unexciting CDP that received a lot of over hyped press. Well, my perceptions have changed now that these new interconnects (MIT AVt-1) injected life into the Rotel. Everything now sounds more believable; there is a sense of conviction in it’s presentation that wasn't there before. The one thing that has always impressed me was it’s ability to extract all of the information from what ever disc you played. With the MIT interconnects, I’m able to appreciate all of the microdynamics the player extracts from the recordings. I listen to a lot of Jazz and I love the way this player is able to sort out and spatialize all of the instruments. I’m growing to like this player very much.

Product Weakness: somewhat lean, lightweight in the bass dept
Product Strengths: price-performance value, solid contruction, ability to convey subtleties, spatial accuracy, pace
