o.k. this will be brief. The main reason is that I have only heard this player for a few days in it's standard guise (warranty is for ..so I got right to the tweaking)
I used to have a CD-48 with a few mods (about $10 worth) and to be honest it fares pretty well against the cd-67OSE. The OSE is smooth (too much) and sounded downright dull compared to the modded cd-48. So is it any good?, well compared to NAD and rotel the marantz has more "swing" and is more musical(IMHO)and it's sound is basicly ok but lacks boogie factor and clarity.
It's real virtue is that it can be modified extensively giving you a much more enjoyable player. We are talkin' major differences here (bigger than any "magic" cable etc.)
So my verdict:Buy it and then tweak it to death! This thing screams for it
and it'll be fun to take along for auditioning new stuff...
thanx for the mods guys : Thorsten and Bobwire
