The Denon DCM-370 is an inexpensive but full-featured 5 disc carousel type CD player with HDCD decoding and Burr Brown D/A converters. I recently purchased this player at my local 'audiophile den' for a bit under $300, and it is easily worth several times this price. The player is solidly built, and one even has to remove a special 'transport screw' (removable by hand, no tools necessary) from under the player when setting it up. Sonically, it truly shines. This is the first player i've had that does not exhibit any 'digital nasties' or harshness. In fact, it sounds rather analog-like and tends towards warm tones with very accurate timbral balance. HDCD is truly a great feature as well, with a noticeable improvement on many HDCD's over conventional ones. I just don't understand why HDCD isn't more popular. Voice and instruments seem to float and have more punch and clarity, with incredible imaging and separation that rival and in many cases even SURPASS only the absolute best recorded and transferred 'conventional' CD's (i.e. Chesky, some MFSL, Steely Dan's "2 Against Nature", Strunz & Farah "In the Heat Of The Night", etc.) that I own. I can go on and on, but I don't want to sound as if I am affiliated with Denon (which I am NOT), given my overenthusiastic, but accurate, glowing review! In a nutshell, this is a GREAT player, and HDCD does not dissapoint!!!
