for the Njoe Tjoeb 4000
Just purchased Ah from Upscale Audio($from 500+ &end up with $1000+)
Since I'm also looking for the best within <$2000 range (tude cdp)
Well,I'm looking for a warm sound so tude is the only way to go .
I seach & seach finally came across this Ah ! Funny name like this should be a more interesting .For the build quality ,I'll say it's a after market shell with a very good upgrade parts . However ,it has all the logical control button on the front & on the remote (better than some very expensive one ,I can say ,though, it's made of plastic ) I can almost operate all the button without light once I know them .Indeed I like to listen to my music in darkness to feel the sound of the singer come to live! It logged in only <60hours & I can only compare my 10+yrs old Revox
costing $1800 10yr+ ago still have plastic panel on each side but for the sound Ah has more live-life human sound .However, for the actual musical instrument placement Ah 's back ground is flat & the high is a little roll off while my revox sound live but thin in human voice .I found a careful choose of cable make some difference between high roll off & tighter bass .
(so I make my own cable which sound better than the $100+ monster cable)
Well I 'll post another update once I get the full break-in of the unit.
ps . some of the so call upgrade such as the 'feet ' to damming vibration ;I find it questionable else I have yet to get more time to prove their value !! I did add the Dynamat to strenghten & daming the unit inside (it works & feels more solid after the treatment ).
Also I connect the cd player diectly to the power tude amp for the max signal best souns feild I can obtain so the remote internal volume control is valuable to me ,much like my revox .
Product Weakness: $1000 isn't a cheap player but more a real price than the ad.$500+ (a standard player will not do much good )it'll be the same when compare to the mass market cdp . Product Strengths: warm (live-life human ) sound !!
very logical control layout . (no wonder this unit is used for after market-moldify unit.
possible to tailor sound by changing tubes .

Try the upgraded op amps and definitely get a pair of tube dampers. - Sigmund 10:23:24 01/5/03 ( 2)
- May only be partially applicable???? - Tyoder 11:11:43 01/5/03 ( 1)
- Yes, op amps not needed if you have upsampler. Tube dampers will help, though. nt - Sigmund 17:23:59 01/5/03 ( 1)
