General Asylum: REVIEW: QSC RMX-1450 Amplifier (SS) by The Defiler

As per my earlier review on the Rotel RMB-1095, which has now somehow been lost, the QSC-1450 is an outstanding amplifier that kicks but. Rated at

I originally purchased the QSC to power my subwoofer, a high powered REL. However after a discussion with a friend of mine where advised him to buy a QSC amplifier instead of mini system I decided to hook it up to some old center channel speakers which I out and about in order to assess the quality of my advice. The results were impressive the ,although the center speakers retail for $70 dollars each and only have two 4-1/2 drivers plus a tweeter I was actually able to produce some decent bass. Instrumental music seemed as horns guitars and pianos were expressed in all their detail and glory. Pop music on the other hand seemed to coated with that hard solid state sheen which tube lovers abhor and despise,however after moderated the volume on the amplifier pop music became far more tolerable. In its original role as a subwoofer amplifier the RMX-1450 shines and produces more than enough output to shake the walls if hooked up to the proper subwoofer. In conclusion with a street price of $459,at Guitar Center or 8thstreet.com, the RMX-1450 is an excellent starter amp for the audiophile on a budget, however its solid state hardness may be a bit off putting to those who prefer smooth sound.
