My search for arual perfection started with a Mcintosh, which I bought because it looked much cooler than what you would get at a common store. I was delighted when that amp powered its first warm note; Realization: my 20 year old amp sounded much better than any of the Yamaha and Sony equipment I had, and I thought I was satisfied.
Later, I went to a Hifi Store and I listened to some B & W 801s running on all Levinson equipment. I was missing something. Anyway, Long search yadda yadda, how do I think the A3CR amp sounds? Detail, dynamics, and a bit of warmth. For this price range, I hear no competition. This amp has room to grow with any audiophile, every upgrade to my system is beautifully relayed thru this amp.
This amp is very well rounded, musical, transparent, clear, and has some power to move. Obviously it cannot push some larger speakers, but the A3CR is not a brute force attempt to wrangle your speakers into submission. One thing this amp did that I notice more in very high end equipment is silence, there is the blackness between notes which I only heard from the $5000 crowd, i.e. Krell, Levinson.
If this amp is a little too much, its worth listening to. If this amp seems a little inexpensive for you, listen to it. I know I am biased, so dont take my word for, believe your ears instead. SO give it a listen, it would hurt, I promise ;)
