for the ZR1000
I've got a Carver ZR1000. Just ordered a ZR500 to go with it, will get another 500 when I can afford it for my triamp setup. It's a killer amp. I've built several Tripath amps from evaluation boards over the last 2 years and they are all killer too. I've sold them to a friend and am going with the pro line now for warranty (5 years) packaging (mine were on breadboards), robustness and looks.
Tremendous depth, great kick, symbols, vocals. Great ambience bloom around percussive sounds. Big soundstage with tight image. Very seductive. No faults. None. Zip. Well, except for fan noise. Hmm. I'm not going to be able to describe the sound. Never buy another class AB amp. Never. Waste. I've owned and heard some good class A over the years.. . .but the Carver's got serious kick and they don't get hot.
Product Weakness: Fan noise, excessive gain for home use. Product Strengths: 200 watt SET.
