I'd heard their modded Sony 775 in their listening room and asked if they'd do one for me as a favor. (They have some awesome digital recorders there also and they allowed my friend and I to spend the afternoon and early evening listening to some of their masters. In a word, wow!).I recieved my 775 back from Tube Research in August and have to agree with Ezra, the dynamics of the modified unit are incredible. I've never heard the guitars sound as real on "Friday Night in San Francisco" SACD as they do now. Soundstaging and focus are way better than before. Redbook CD's are incredible too, as you'd expect.
If this is any indication of what to expect from the Tube Research transport and DAC that I have on order, I can't wait.
Better than the MBL/Audio Logic? Are you sure about the price Ezra? They only charged me $550.
