Frequency response figures are meaningless without an accompanying statement of deviation from 0dB. You can put a battery across any headphone, see the diaphragm move and claim a response down to 1Hz if you like but it doesn't signify anything.
The Sony CD MDR-5 was actually a small, lightweight, on ear, open headphone with only moderate bass power as would be expected from its construction. If Sony had truly built any transducer with a flat response to 2Hz then acoustic engineering would have been quite different over that past 30 odd years.
