Re: Another 2.6 lover - Details of DIY Sub

Scott,

Re: DIY quad, face-to-face, isobaric sub-woofer

I used 8 Dayton (Parts Express) 6.5" drivers that have an Fs of 32HZ. I designed the enclosure via lspCAD software.

To achieve good low frequency extension drivers with a low Fs are essential. There aren't many candidates among drivers smaller than 8".

Vifa has a 6.5" woofer with an Fs of 34. An isobaric array of these drivers should be dynamite (but a lot more expensive).

I've successfully used four 5" Vifa's in an double, IN-LINE isobaric array in conjunction with a ribbon tweeter and a electronic xover for my Center Channel. It replaced a Maggie Center Channel which is the only Maggie I haven't liked - anemic low end.
