;^] (sorry, couldn't resist the pun)
I have my Maggies (3.7i) positioned about 3 feet out from a dark wood paneled back wall. My listening room also has a 20 foot vaulted ceiling, the other room dimensions being approximately 22' X 22'. They sound glorious with a well integrated sub.Bringing Maggies forward 15' into a demo suite to achieve "satisfactory" sound seems pretty extreme (or desperate) to me, but not surprising given the unorthodox environment the sponsors had to work with. This doesn't strike me as being the fault of the speaker's limitations, but rather the venue.
I can't fathom how back-wall windows and slopped ceilings are suitable for large dipole speaker demonstrations. Conversely, in a consumer controlled home listening environment with compatible gear a lot of things are possible that may not be achieveable in the short time span required for set-up and demos at a trade show.
