I have owned a Double Dyna 400 since the 70's that worked well until a couple of years ago when the left channel stopped working.

An electrical engineer friend of mine visited two years ago, looked at the circuit boards and found no obvious problems but he didn't have any equipment with him to investigate further. This year he came back with some portable equipment and sussed out where the problem is. If I can get both circuit boards out and send them to him he'd happy to fix the problem, recap them both and send them back.

The problem is that this time we couldn't get the power knob off the front to remove the faceplate and take the boards out. He removed it last year and put it back on carefully but couldn't remove it this year. The same hex key won't grab the set screw, nor will others.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for getting it off?
