So, my primary/only amp for a few years was my Jolida 502, and when the tubes gave out on me i let it sit by the wayside for years. Didn't help that my budget was tight. I'd since picked up a really nice Cary integrated and it certainly does have that "triode cream" as Dr Rosenberg liked to call it, but it's far more sensitive to what comes in and doesn't have a heck of a lot of drive. Today, i bought a matched quad of output tubes for the poor neglected Jolida and I'm enjoying the heck out of this thing.
Certainly not as good at low volumes as my 300b SET that i had since acquired, but that doesn't rock the less efficient of the speakers i have, nor does it go down as far.
Technically, it's up for sale, but this may have changed my mind.
Even if i find a buyer I might have to put off sending it until i get a chance to plug it into my JBL 4331As which have been kept at my dad's due to the larger room sizes.

Dunno which tubes you got but I'm amazed at how good my Jolida 502 P sounds with a nice set of Tungsol KT 150's. I had a set of 6550s and the KT150's are mo'better all around.
Valve Art 6550
KT150s you say?
Why'd you do that? What are you driving with all the extra power?
I don't know that I really get much if any any extra power as the 502 circuit was designed for the KT88 - 6550 power tubes. Talking to Allen, the guy that owns Jolida he said maybe a few additional watts but the reason to get the KT 150's is that they just sound better.
I power Magneplanar 1.7's a very inefficient 4 ohm planar speaker. I like the sound of these speakers with the tube Jolida much more than I do with very powerful 300- 400 watt SS amps that I also own.
Right, they run a higher plate voltage, so you'll be running them lower in their range.
Maggies, ah!
