Did you change the PSU rectifier from tube to solid-state? Wonder what is causing the excess current draw, which is melting your regulator tube?
You sure you don't have dried up filter caps or a short to ground?

No, I didn't change anything. Other things must be checked by a technician.
I should try a new OB2 voltage stalilizer; if it doesn't help, I will bring it to a tech.
My visual inspection of caps did not show anything (except that a part of the casing (or whatever is its name) of one Multicap got unstuck...
Sounds like excessive current draw. Did it melt after a cold startup?
I guess you can try another OB2 (or equivalent). But, if this happens again, better have that unit checked out by a tech.

I did not "witness" its melt-down and cannot figure out when it happened, because the lid was closed and the problem (interupted sound) occurred long ago. I noticed the melted tube last Sunday when I opened the lid to make pictures.
