I have a pair of Sylvania Brown Base VT-25 ( Type 10Y )DHT tubes,
when I run them in my amp. They seem to Ping every so often .
They only stop pinging when they run for about 20 mins. This pair of
VT-25's are one's with Gold Grid wires..... I have another pair of 10Y's that don't do this pinging.
I was wandering is this pinging a characteristic of these Gold Grid wire 10Y's ???
Thanks
wIllie

That is when they stop heat expanding and stabilize. Make sure you are not running them too hard (Filament voltage, plate voltage/current) Try lowering the filament voltage.
Yeah you might be right I should have checked plate voltage on this amp.
Another quick listening test that involved these Gold grid 10Y's.
I'd better check the circuit again, before proceeding!
Thanks
Chip
