Hi.
I recently got a B&W AS6 subwoofer. It was advertised as 'needing work'. I hook it up and just get a low-volume garbly sound out of it resembling the music playing. When I turn the volume up, the garbling increases slightly. the crossover freq adjust or phase adjust do not affect it. I have it connected via speaker wires with the rcvr output going to the input of the sub, then the output of the sub going to the speakers. It has a 250v 2a fuse (inside sub amp) which I replaced. Original fuse looked questionable, but tested good, but I replaced it anyways. Do subwoofers like these have common problems with these symptoms?? I have not tried the line in/out connections. I want to use this with a small tube amp and speaker connections are my only option. If anyone has any ideas on what I can check, please let me know (or post). I know that sub amps can be purchased, but I'd like to fix this one if possible. Thanks.
