Bi-AMPING

For sure. Bi-amping has HUGE benefits. Hopefully, everybody knows that by now, or they're still in 1971 (which was a great year, btw).

It is my goal that the new speakers I'm working on (a 4-way in two cabinets - woofer+uppers) will be bi-amped. I'm fairly settled on the amps - Parasound A21 and A23 (or an old-ish HCA-xxxx model if I can find a good one. The big question is the x-over. In the absence of other options, I've thought of Rane.

"However... it's both expensive and complicated to do it."

It's neither. You buy one more amp, an active crossover, and the associated cabling. You're just moving the x-over to a point before the amplifiers. Source > preamp > x-over > amps > speakers. People spend MUCH more on expensive tweaks which aren't NEARLY as effective.

:)
