WM player may or maynot play the AIF files on the CD24, the depenancy is on the hardware beneath. 16bit/44.1kHz should not be an issue for any modern motherboard; but 24bit/96kHz can be. I have a 160G disc full of *.AIF's from CD24's recorded on the ML9600 and have no problems with WM9 playing 16bit/44.1kHz *.AIF's. My motherboard won't play anything done at 24bit/96kHz; where WM9 reports a meaningless error. The realtek player gives you an error code which when you look on the mircosoft site says the hardware doesn't support the file type.
Strangely, my old K6 laptop with W98 and WM9, which has an ESS audio chipset and is quite happy with CD24 at 24bit/96kHz.
