a better dummy load to break in amp, cables...

Parts Connection has a resistive dummy load. Would like to push amps + associated interconnects, speaker cables, moderately hard for longer periods without generating sound for long periods. Is a resistive load sufficient ? Would a low voltage light bulb work, i.e. a 24 v rate bulb ? An old woofer with the cone material cut away ? Ham radio guys used to have dummy transmitter antennae they immersed in baby oil as a non conductive coolant. Was thinking about wrapping some resistive wire around a wood dowel, checking it with the meter until I got about 10 ohms and sticking this in a pyrex bread pan full of J&J baby oil or motor oil then blasting the system for a week. Similar experiences ?
