Has Anyone Heard Of "Thermax"?????????????

63.23.232.238

Any vinylphiles out there that are building contracters??? This stuff has got me interested, it's primary use is building insulation.
I don't know what it's made of, but it is of an extreamly light black material that is very dry feeling and pourous. It's also extreamly brittle and breaks very easily. Also if you handle it, cut, or break it, you will find it's very nasty stuff, as it releases sharp, fine sandlike particles, almost like burnt carbon (actually if you crunch up a charcoal bricket, -it has the same feel). These insulation panels are held together by a thin aluminum foil on both sides. These panels can be purchased in 1"-4" thicknesses.
Since "Thermax" is so light, pourous, and inert, it seems that it would be an ideal isolation material for a turntable. I am curious if anyone is familier with this material or has used it?
